Job DetailsJob Location: Corporate Office - Trussville, AL 35173Position Summary SPOC Energy is seeking a highly analytical and technology-oriented Financial Analyst - FP&A, Systems & Reporting to join the Finance & Accounting team. This role will serve as a key link between financial analysis, business operations, and the technology platforms used to deliver financial and operational information across the organization. The Financial Analyst will have significant responsibility for developing and maintaining SPOC Energy's budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and financial analytics processes. The position will also serve as a Finance power user for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Datarails, helping design the reporting infrastructure, data models, dashboards, and analytical tools used by management. A central objective of this position is to establish Finance as the functional owner of financial and operational management reporting. The analyst will work collaboratively with IT on system architecture, integrations, security, and technical infrastructure while Finance owns report definitions, financial logic, KPI development, analytical models, and management reporting. Key Responsibilities Financial Planning & Analysis Manage and continuously improve the company's annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes. Develop rolling forecasts and financial models supporting revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, working capital, cash flow, and profitability. Perform budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analysis and communicate key drivers to management. Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to support strategic and operational decision-making. Partner with Accounting to ensure management reporting reconciles appropriately to financial results. Identify trends, risks, opportunities, and performance drivers within company results. Support executive management with ad hoc financial analysis and decision-support modeling. Business Central & Financial Systems Serve as a Finance power user and functional subject-matter expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Participate extensively in the implementation, configuration, testing, and ongoing optimization of Business Central. Represent Finance requirements during ERP implementation and future system-development initiatives. Help design financial dimensions, reporting structures, account mappings, data hierarchies, and other elements necessary for scalable management reporting. Develop an in-depth understanding of how financial and operational transactions flow through Business Central and related systems. Assist with user acceptance testing, system documentation, process design, and Finance-user training. Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and analytical processes. Datarails & Management Reporting Serve as the primary Finance power user and reporting administrator for Datarails. Lead the development of Datarails reporting models, dashboards, management reports, and analytical tools. Integrate budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes into the Datarails environment. Develop standardized monthly and periodic reporting packages for executives and department leaders. Maintain reporting definitions and ensure consistency of financial measures and KPIs throughout the organization. Create scalable reporting tools that allow management to analyze performance without relying on manually assembled reports. Continuously improve dashboards and reporting based on evolving business needs. Business Intelligence & Reporting Governance Help establish Finance as the business owner of financial and operational reporting across SPOC Energy. Define and maintain reporting standards, KPI definitions, financial logic, dimensions, and management-reporting hierarchies. Work with IT as a technical partner for infrastructure, integrations, data access, security, and system administration while maintaining Finance ownership of reporting requirements and business logic. Reduce dependence on IT for routine financial and operational report creation and modification by developing strong reporting capabilities within Finance. Establish reliable sources of truth for management reporting and help eliminate conflicting or duplicative reports. Evaluate new reporting, analytics, automation, and AI technologies that could improve Finance capabilities. Departmental Business Partnership Serve as a Finance liaison to Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Service, and other functional departments. Meet with department leaders to understand their reporting and analytical needs. Translate business questions into meaningful reports, dashboards, KPIs, and financial analyses. Assist department leaders with interpreting financial and operational performance. Develop department-specific reporting that connects operational activity to financial results. Help managers better understand cost, margin, productivity, spending, inventory, and other relevant performance drivers. Promote greater financial literacy and data-driven decision-making throughout the organization. Performance Analytics Develop and maintain reporting and analysis related to areas such as: Revenue and bookings Gross margin and product/customer profitability Manufacturing and operational performance Inventory levels, turns, excess and obsolete inventory, and days on hand Purchasing and material performance Labor and overhead Operating expenses Departmental spending Working capital Cash flow Capital expenditures Forecast accuracy Key operational and financial KPIs Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field. Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical and financial-modeling capabilities. Demonstrated interest and aptitude in financial technology, ERP systems, reporting platforms, data, and business intelligence. Ability to understand how data moves between operational systems, ERP systems, and reporting environments. Ability to translate business requirements into reporting and analytical solutions. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with both financial and non-financial managers. High degree of curiosity, initiative, organization, and attention to detail. Preferred Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or another modern ERP platform. Experience with Datarails, Power BI, or similar FP&A/business-intelligence platforms. Experience with ERP implementations or major financial-system projects. Experience designing dashboards, management reports, or financial data models. Familiarity with SQL, Power Query, Power Pivot, APIs, or other data-management technologies. Manufacturing or industrial-company experience. Understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, manufacturing variances, and operational KPIs. CPA, CMA, MBA, or other relevant professional credential is beneficial but not required. Technology Profile The successful candidate should be someone who is naturally drawn to technology and enjoys learning how systems and data work. We are specifically looking for an analyst who asks questions such as: Can this process be automated? Where does this data originate? How can we make this report more useful? Can managers access this information without Finance manually rebuilding it every month? How do we create one reliable source of truth? What operational data explains the financial result? The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable working in a financial model, investigating an ERP transaction, designing a dashboard, and discussing business performance with an operational leader. Successful Finance adoption and utilization of Microsoft Business Central. Successful implementation and ongoing ownership of Datarails. Reduced reliance on IT for the creation and maintenance of financial and operational management reports. Consistent financial and KPI definitions across the organization. Increased availability of self-service reporting for managers. Improved ability of department leaders to understand and manage their financial and operational performance.
