SUMMARY
Plans and carries out assignments relating to generally accepted accounting principles as it relates to payroll.

Using company vehicle or personal vehicle, may be required to travel within the local area or to outlying offices during the completion of job duties.
Essential job duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Filing.
- Data input.
- Placing phone calls to research bills or resolve accounting questions and/or irregularities.
- Researching and retrieving information from old files.
- Answering telephone calls for the department and/or as a fill-in for front desk personnel.
- Assisting and cooperating with coworkers to meet departmental deadlines.
- Demonstrating an awareness of needs and initiating solutions before being asked.
- Accepting job changes in practices, procedures or responsibilities.
- Prioritizing daily, weekly and monthly responsibilities to assure all deadlines are met.
- Assisting Accounting Manager with various projects and oversight as needed.
- Demonstrating an overall knowledge of Payroll.
- Assist with day-to-day accounting and administrative responsibilities.
- Perform date entry, filing, and other general office and accounting duties as needed.
- Maintain accurate and organized records.
- Provide professional and courteous communication with staff and the public.
- The SSA Specialist will maintain and reconcile all applicable balances, accounts, paperwork, and transactions related to our agency consumers.
- Schedule and prepare for consumer financial reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have the ability to apply common sense, and to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Work environment can be fast paced. The ability to deal with stress and get along with co-workers and supervisors is essential. Must be able to communicate effectively with people outside the company and internally within all levels of management and all departments. Must be detail oriented, ability to multi-task, and be professional, confidential and friendly. Must have written skills in order to document. - Previous experience in an office or administrative setting.
- Experience working with the public or in a customer-facing environment.
- Strong organizational and filing skills.
- Accurate typing and data-entry skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to learn and use accounting software; experience with Sage is a plus, but training will be provided.
- Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
