Job Summary:

The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Women’s Rowing Coach and is responsible for all aspects of the University of Tulsa NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Program. This position will perform as a positive role model for student-athletes in an upbeat environment which strives for academic and athletic excellence and will establish a professional relationship with student-athletes, staff, alumni and the general public in an effort to promote the university, and its athletic program.

 

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

  • Assist in the daily preparation and coordination of team practices

  • Responsible for assisting the head coach with the overall management of rowing operations, travel, recruiting, equipment, coaching and team operating budget

  • Assist in the coordination and management of on-campus regattas

  • Assist the Head Coach and other members of the rowing coaching staff in the recruitment of highly skilled student-athletes for the rowing team 

  • Assist in marketing and promotion of women’s rowing

  • Develop and implement programs to assist student-athletes in their transition into the college environment

  • Assist in the development of novice rowers

  • Perform necessary administrative duties

 

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge/Skill/Ability

 

Equivalent Education/Experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills; strong self-starter; ability to work within the American Athletic Conference; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; ability to work closely with a diverse group of people.

  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of collegiate coaching experience or other relevant experience; excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills; strong self-starter; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; ability to work closely with a diverse group of people.

Work requires working with highly sensitive or confidential information and occasional overnight travel may occur.
