Description

Pay: Start at $16 per hour and is commensurate based on experience.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming medical facility. Duties include cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, treatment areas, offices, common areas, restrooms, and other assigned spaces in accordance with facility, infection-control, health department, and OSHA requirements. The employee must be dependable, professional, flexible, and prepared to work around patients with varying needs and behaviors. The Housekeeper must be able to adjust to unexpected changes in workflow, patient needs, admissions, and discharges while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, treatment areas, offices, hallways, waiting areas, restrooms, and assigned spaces.
  • Perform deep cleaning after patient discharge and before new admissions or room assignments.
  • Follow infection-prevention, bloodborne-pathogen, chemical-safety, OSHA, and health department requirements.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and appropriately handle potentially infectious materials.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum and perform other floor-care duties as assigned.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and waste according to facility procedures.
  • Support housekeeping needs at the CNR (Transitional Living) offsite house, including deep cleaning periodically as scheduled by the Housekeeping supervisor.
  • Restock housekeeping supplies and report shortages or damaged equipment.
  • Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and special cleaning requests.
  • Safely operate vacuums, floor machines, carts, and other housekeeping equipment.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Communicate respectfully with patients, visitors, and staff, including individuals with challenging behaviors or special needs.
  • Cooperate with nursing, maintenance, dietary, and other departments.
  • Complete required training and perform other duties as assigned.

*This position has been deemed a safety sensitive position. Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act (OMMA), safety sensitive position is defined as any job that includes tasks or duties that the employer believes could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others. Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability to follow infection-control and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Professional, respectful, and courteous conduct.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and unexpected workflow changes.

Preferred:

  • Previous housekeeping or Environmental Services experience.
  • Healthcare, hospital, nursing facility, clinic, or rehabilitation experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare cleaning and infection-control practices.


PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift as necessary to perform housekeeping duties.
  • Lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 65lbs
  • Operate vacuums, floor equipment, carts, and other housekeeping equipment.
  • Perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Work in areas where exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, infectious materials, odors, dust, and other environmental conditions may occur.
  • Wear required PPE.
  • Respond quickly to spills, environmental hazards, and urgent cleaning needs.
