Accounting professional with experience supporting billing, corporate accounting, and government contract compliance activities. Knowledgeable in Cost-Plus and Time & Materials (T&M) contract billing, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and government contract accounting principles. Supports incurred cost submissions, indirect rate calculations, audit requests, and contract administration while partnering with Accounting, Contracts, and Program Management teams to ensure accurate billing, regulatory compliance, and effective financial management throughout the contract lifecycle.
Responsibilities
This position provides progressive experience across billing, corporate accounting, and government contract compliance functions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop expertise in government contract accounting, indirect rates, incurred cost submissions, DCAA audits, final rate settlements, and contract closeout activities while supporting the financial operations of a growing government contractor.
Billing & Contract Administration
- Prepare and review customer invoices for Cost-Plus, Time & Materials (T&M), and fixed-price contracts.
- Validate labor, subcontractor, and other direct costs for billing accuracy and contractual compliance.
- Perform billing reconciliations and analyze unbilled receivables.
- Support preparation of final invoices, final vouchers, and contract closeout documentation.
- Monitor contract funding limitations and assist in resolving billing discrepancies.
- Coordinate with Contracts and Program Management to ensure timely and accurate billing.
Corporate Accounting
- Support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with balance sheet account analyses and financial statement reporting.
- Support external audits and annual financial reporting requirements.
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with company policies and internal controls.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives across accounting and finance functions.
Government Contract Accounting & Compliance
- Assist with preparation of annual Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS).
- Support indirect cost rate calculations, reconciliations, and true-up analyses.
- Apply FAR Part 31 cost principles in the review of allowable and unallowable costs.
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for DCAA audits and compliance reviews.
- Assist with final indirect rate settlement analyses and contract closeout activities.
- Support maintenance of government accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably in government contracting, project accounting, contract billing, public accounting, or corporate accounting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic government contracting principles, FAR requirements, DCAA requirements, and federal contract compliance.
- Experience supporting government contract Cost-Plus and/or Time & Materials (T&M) contract billing, accounting, incurred cost submissions, indirect rate calculations, or contract closeout activities.
- Experience with account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting processes.
- CPA or other accounting certifications is a plus.
