Job Title: Quality Manager

 

 

Position Overview:

The essential function of the Quality Manager is to maintain the ISO 9001:2015 quality system, support new process development and continuous improvement, and oversee daily quality operations. The successful candidate will be hands-on, demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, and solve problems in unique situations. This position works closely with Manufacturing, Sales, and Customer Service to drive customer satisfaction.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and support ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 standards and serve as the site representative for the Quality Management System.
  • Develop resources to support quality initiatives and plant performance; assess areas requiring improvement and initiate continual improvement actions.
  • Support Manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives using Lean tools, statistical process control, and time studies to develop action plans.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction through a proactive, preventive approach that ensures customer requirements are understood and achieved using tools such as APQP, FMEA, SPC, control plans, and PPAP.
  • Act as a liaison between functional areas and customers and resolve customer concerns through the corrective action process, including 8D.
  • Monitor and manage plant key performance indicators, including internal and external rejects, scrap, rework, customer concerns, customer satisfaction, and plant safety.
  • Plan and manage Quality Department activities, budgets, costs, quality systems, and standards.
  • Develop understanding of and conformance to quality systems through training, education, compliance audits, coaching, and employee development.
  • Serve as the plant safety coordinator, conduct safety audits, and work with plant management and corporate safety teams to correct identified issues.
  • Perform short- and long-range planning and other duties as assigned.

Work Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment, noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching throughout the production facility are required; must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Required personal protective equipment must be worn as applicable.
  • Must respond to quality issues during production shifts and support continuous improvement activities.
  • Occasional travel, additional hours, and overtime may be required for customer visits, supplier audits, training, meetings, production demands, or quality initiatives.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline preferred; relevant experience in an accredited quality-system environment required.
  • Three to five years of quality management experience required.
  • Experience with process control plans, APQP, GD&T, PPAP, FMEA, Gage R&R, SPC, and 8D preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949, and related quality systems and standards.
  • Effective communication, presentation, leadership, training, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical ability, mechanical aptitude, planning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of ERP business systems and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail.
