JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

This position will require significant field work in a post-wildfire environment. Duties include conducting tree-level inventory as well as other forest measurements. Fire effects measurements will also be conducted. The candidate will need to be able to allocate and set up field-based plot networks to answer research questions. Data management and statistical analysis will be required as well as technical writing.

The candidate may also be required to conduct field work during prescribed fire operations. A forestry degree, or equivalent, is preferred or a combination of education and significant field-based experience. Wildland fire qualifications (FFT2) will be required and experience on prescribed burns is preferred. If the candidate has significant field experience but does not current hold FFT2 qualifications, they will need to become qualified soon after starting the position. This job will require independent field work with significant responsibilities. Driving will be required.

 

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
