Job Description
This position owns, develops, and drives the global IT strategy for the Finance domain. The role is accountable for maximizing business value and strategic outcomes from technology investments supporting Finance globally.
Acting as the primary enterprise IT partner for senior Finance leaders, this role shapes technology-enabled Finance strategies, drives investment prioritization, influences executive decision-making, and ensures alignment between Finance objectives, enterprise architecture, and technology initiatives across regions and divisions.
The primary purpose of the Finance Business Relationship Management (BRM) function is to stimulate, shape, and realize Finance demand for technology investments while ensuring sustainable value realization.
From the perspective of Finance executive leaders, the Finance BRM serves as a trusted strategic advisor and advocate for technology-enabled Finance transformation. From the perspective of the IT organization, the Finance BRM acts as strategist, orchestrator, communicator, and value manager, fostering strong Finance partnerships and ensuring alignment between enterprise priorities, Finance strategy, and technology delivery.
Job Duties
- Plan, develop, own, and drive an effective global IT strategy for the Finance domain.
- Foster, shape and manage the business demand for IT investment (including AI/Data) in the Finance domain across all geographies and divisions. Identify the optimal approaches to meet Finance business needs, while proactively identifying the cross-functional dependencies with other Functional Domains (ex: Procurement). Ensure prioritized Finance demand is translated into valid IT solutions and clearly defined projects set up for success (right scoping, proper project setup, and clear benefit definition).
- Identify required strategic sourcing, vendor engagement, analysis, recommendations, and execution approaches to successfully support Finance priorities and sustained value realization.
- Once Finance initiatives are in flight, provide executive oversight to ensure Delivery team commitments remain aligned with agreed business outcomes, value realization, risk management, and executive stakeholder expectations. After completion, establish learning and continuous improvement mechanisms to enhance Finance business value generation.
- Coach Finance executive business stakeholders and their direct reports and continuously raise their digital/AI literacy; enable them to articulate technology needs and requirements that will advance Finance performance and maximise return on investment; proactively share technology advancements and market success stories relevant to the Finance domain.
- As the IT organization's advocate for the Finance domain, inform and influence Finance executives so that they understand and support projects that are in concert with IT goals, such as enterprise architecture and the infrastructure/application/security strategy.
- Establish and run a Voice of the Customer (VoC) process for the Finance domain to measure satisfaction with IT services and identify opportunities to improve IT and Finance collaboration and value delivery.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or other related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in driving medium-to-large-scale Finance process and system change in global environments.
- Minimum of 5 years of senior management or senior consulting experience in Finance technology strategy, transformation programs, and executive stakeholder management.
- Experience of both solution consulting and project implementation.
- Proven experience in influencing Executive, SVP and VP stakeholders across multiple regions and functions to drive Finance strategic decisions, investment prioritization, and organizational change.
- Minimum of 5 years in value creation and demand planning activities.
- Outstanding cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Solid stakeholder management skills (both Western/Asian stakeholders).
- Ability to listen to different perspectives, identify opportunities, explain and convince, and ultimately establish convergence across multiple stakeholders to maximize the outputs for the corporation.
- Leadership to challenge the status-quo and engage others to go beyond their comfort zone.
- Strong Finance business acumen and strategic thinking.
- Fluency in the language of both business and IT.
- Proven know-how to operate and establish convergence across geographies and business units, from upper management to department manager level.
- Dealing with ambiguity and complexity.
- Strong integrity and respect of others.
- Technical Skills: Solid understanding of the key platforms and solutions that support Finance operations. Includes ERP, EPM / financial planning and consolidation, profitability management systems, Tax, Treasury, reporting, data / analytics, and AI.
- Due to the global nature of the role, flexibility will be required for conference calls outside of local time zone business hours, as well as some infrequent travel.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or other related field strongly preferred.
- BRM Institute Certification would be a plus (not mandatory).
- Experience of Design Thinking, Value Stream Mapping, Business Capability modelling would be a plus.
- Or equivalent work experience.
