The Billing Specialist verifies insurance coverage and client information to process insurance

and program billing claims by performing the following duties, while supplementing the

duties performed by the accounting staff.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Reviews patient information in Electronic Health Record and verifies all information is correct.*
  2. Verifies insurance approvals prior to billing with Insurance Companies/Medicaid and all other third party payers.*
  3. Reviews delinquent receivables and follows-up to ensure collection.*
  4. Transmits Medicaid claims electronically and is responsible for follow up of any rejected claims.*
  5. Processes billing for identified Fee for Service Contracts.*
  6. Works with program staff and providers to ensure billing errors and issues are resolved in a timely manner.*
  7. Assists with completing grant and contract billing vouchers.
  8. Prepares monthly billing claims for multiple programs using reports from the accounting and payroll systems.*
  9. Maintains invoicing process and support for provider network.*
  10. Assists with other accounting functions as needed.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and at least one year related

medical billing experience and/or training. Experience with professional accounting
