JOB SUMMARY: The Analytical Laboratory Technician II is responsible for conducting chemical analysis of incoming samples for their elemental concentrations according to established procedures and regulations, ensuring quality standards are met and maintained.Ā
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):Ā
⢠Log and distribute incoming samples of materialsĀ
⢠Operate analytical instrumentation to analyze samples for their elemental concentrationsĀ
⢠Apply subject matter knowledge and experience to perform work under general supervision, seeking guidance as neededĀ
⢠Perform analysis using advanced methods as neededĀ
⢠Follow established procedures and regulationsĀ
⢠Prepare laboratory standardsĀ
⢠Guide, mentor, and train less experienced techniciansĀ
⢠Interpret data for entry into the lab data systemĀ
⢠Calibrate/standardize instruments when and where neededĀ
⢠Maintain a clean, uncluttered work areaĀ
⢠Attend all required safety training and follow all safety policies and proceduresĀ
⢠Perform other duties or special projects as assignedĀ
REQUIREMENTS:Ā
⢠High school diploma or general education degree (GED) requiredĀ
⢠Associate degree in laboratory technology or bachelorās degree in chemistry or science preferredĀ
⢠2 years of work-related experience is required; 4 years of work-related experience is preferredĀ
⢠Demonstrated ability to train othersĀ
⢠Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals and laboratory equipmentĀ
⢠Willing and able to work overtime, including occasional Saturdays, as neededĀ
⢠Knowledge of spectroscopic instrumentation is a plusĀ
⢠Experience with wet chemistry techniques is a plusĀ
⢠Good communication, computer, and organizational skillsĀ
⢠Basic math skillsĀ
⢠Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

Monday-Friday/ 1st shift: 7:00 am-3:30 pm/ 1676 Lincoln Ave, Utica, NY

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill, and education as they relate to the positionās qualifications, and internal equity.
