Education and/or Experience:

Graduate from high school or general education degree.

Two years of technical training in electrical systems or university program certificate.

Four to five years related experience and/or training.

Language Skills:

Read and interpret procedures, policies and regulations, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Write routine reports and correspondence.

Effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, staff, and public.

Mathematical Skills:

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Compute rate, ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of non-standard situations.

Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid Class D Alaska driver’s license.

State of Alaska Electrical Certificate of Fitness.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Lift 70 pounds.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

Speak the Iñupiaq language.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain and repair the electrical systems in all District facilities.

Installs and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment.

Check and maintain fire alarms in all District facilities.

Observe safety standards and regulations.

Estimate material, repair, labor, and costs for projects related to field.

All work will be done in compliance with the National Electrical Code.

Adhere to all District policies and regulations.

Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.
