Clarkston Surgery Center is an established ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in operation since 2009. The staff of this ASC are highly-trained professionals, who are committed to creating and working in a positive environment. Clarkston Surgery Center provides the highest level of surgical services. The staff works to continuously improve quality and service by focusing on the processes that are important in meeting the needs of patients and their families and physicians on staff at the facility.

 

Job Summary:

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all age patients in operating room. Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center. Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to physicians, patients, family members, and personnel in other departments as well as team members. May have additional responsibilities as designated by Adminstrator and/or Clinical Director, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits and projects.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Knows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
  • Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for peri-operative nursing care according to accepted standards.
  • Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge in aseptic technique, proper scrub technique, cleaning and preparation of equipment, and operating room.
  • Oversees the Management of the OR room including: patient safety, equipment, supplies, instruments, sterile technique, OR traffic patterns, and ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assists Anesthesia throughout the OR Procedure
  • Demonstrates ability to understand the unique needs of each age group of the patient population.
  • Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens and body fluids.
  • Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.
  • Uses good body mechanics and aseptic technique.
  • Remains calm and functions as a team leader (along with Anesthesia) during times of stress and in crisis situations.
  • Directs and oversees the counts: sponges, needles, and instruments with the Scrub Personnel.
  • Informs Manager of applicable day-to-day situations.
  • Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.

Physical Demands: Shall be physically able to stand, walk, and maintain varied body motions and positions for long periods of time. Demonstrates manual dexterity. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The employee shall be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or tools. The employee is required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Shall be able to hear and speak. Shall be able to move up to 100 pounds.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Graduate of an approved school of nursing. Currently licensed in the state of Michigan. BLS required. One year experience required intra-operative setting, preferred Ambulatory Surgery Setting. Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities. Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.

 

Required education:

  • R. experience preferred to include da Vinci robot
  • Required license or certification: RN
  • Knowledge of SIS-Complete (preferred)
