TITLE: Quality Technician

DEPARTMENT: Quality 

REPORTS TO: Quality Manager


JOB SUMMARY: The Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring machined components, assemblies, and purchased materials meet S&S Cycle's quality standards and engineering specifications. The Quality Technician monitors product quality through periodic inspections, audits, and calibrations to assure conformance to documented standards and also assists operators, cell leads and engineers with product quality concerns and data.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Thoroughly understand and adhere to the department goals, objectives, and strategy 
  • Establish and maintain credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions 
  • Present and maintain positive morale amongst employees
  • Conduct incoming inspection, disposition, release or segregate product based on conformance to standards.
  • Perform layouts, calibrations and basic statistical data gathering for review 
  • Support manufacturing by performing specification checks and verification
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections of machined components, assemblies, and purchased materials using precision measuring equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges, optical comparators, and CMM equipment as applicable)
  •  Support first article, in-process, final, and receiving inspections to ensure products meet established quality requirements
  • Document inspection results accurately and maintain quality records in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to quality concerns, customer complaints, and internal nonconformances
  •  Verify that machining processes remain within established tolerances and recommend process improvements to reduce variation and scrap
  • Support audits of manufacturing processes, work instructions, tooling, and quality documentation to ensure compliance with company procedures
  • Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of inspection plans, control plans, and quality documentation
  • Ensure measuring and test equipment is properly calibrated and maintained in accordance with calibration schedules
  •  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety policies and procedures
  • Effectively communicate inspection findings and quality concerns
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support manufacturing operations

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experienced working as a Quality Technician or equivalent
  • Knowledge of measuring tools, geometric tolerancing and control of quality documentation.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred in related field
  • Flexible, energetic, forward-thinking, and creative with high moral and ethical standards
  • High analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus
  • Well organized and self-directed
  • Able to relate to people at all levels of the organization in a positive fashion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of computer applications


WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is performed in an office environment with occasional exposure to production environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must comply with safety equipment standards: safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety toe shoes when present on production floor
