Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a candidate to provide I&C engineering and design for water and wastewater facility projects in our Virginia Beach, VA office. Candidate will serve as the lead I&C engineer on projects for water and wastewater facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system network diagrams, control panel wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and installation details.
  • Supervision and mentorship of less experienced staff
  • Coordinating with the other disciplines (process/mechanical, structural, architectural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and site civil).
  • Performing quality reviews of BIM models, Revit families, and CAD based files used in the production of contract documents.
  • Inspection, testing, and approve of I&C work provided by contractors at water and wastewater facilities

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of water/wastewater or industrial process instrumentation and equipment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • 7-12 years of experience in instrumentation and controls engineering and design and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multiple years of experience performing I&C design for public sector water/wastewater clients.
  • Understanding of processes and equipment for various water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and conveyance systems.
  • PLC/HMI configuration/programming experience.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers, designers, and other staff.
  • Experience communicating and coordinating with clients.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Plant 3D.

Education Requirements:

  • BS/BE Engineering
  • Must have a PE License, or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
