Role Overview

  • The Project Manager owns the day-to-day execution of small to medium-sized custom manufacturing projects for secondary power generation enclosures. This role transforms approved sales handoffs into executable project plans while coordinating internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • The Project Manager is responsible for protecting project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and customer commitments from project kickoff through final closeout. Success in this role will be measured through on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, schedule adherence, risk management, quality performance, and overall project profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Kickoff

  • Lead internal project kickoff meetings and validate project scope, commercial requirements, customer specifications, equipment requirements, inspection requirements, deliverables, milestones, and responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain project execution documentation, including project overview checklists, milestone schedules, shipping BOMs, communication plans, issue logs, change logs, unit condition reports, and lessons learned.
  • Identify missing, incomplete, or unclear project requirements and drive timely resolution.
  • Establish project reporting cadences and ensure project records accurately reflect current status and forecasted outcomes.
  • Coordinate handoffs between Sales, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Production.Ā 

Cross-Functional Project Execution

  • Coordinate project reviews and page-turn meetings with Engineering, Procurement, Production, Quality, Logistics, and Field Service teams.
  • Monitor critical path activities, long-lead materials, customer-supplied equipment, inspection milestones, factory witness testing requirements, release readiness, and shipping schedules.
  • Lead recurring project status meetings, document decisions, assign action items, and track completion.
  • Escalate project constraints, risks, and delays with clear impact analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate readiness for inspections, customer audits, and factory witness testing events.

Commercial & Risk Management

  • Track project risks related to rework, logistics, field service activities, material shortages, schedule impacts, and cost exposure.
  • Maintain project scope by documenting customer changes, internal changes, assumptions, and potential commercial impacts.
  • Partner with Sales Engineering and leadership teams to manage change orders, customer requests, recovery plans, and contract-related issues.
  • Maintain active risk registers documenting probability, impact, mitigation plans, ownership, due dates, and escalation status.
  • Support project forecasting and budget tracking activities.

Customer Communication & Project Closeout

  • Provide accurate and timely project status updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proactively communicate emerging risks and potential schedule impacts before commitments are missed.
  • Coordinate resolution of production, inspection, testing, shipment, installation, and field service issues.
  • Confirm release readiness, documentation completion, and required approvals before shipment.
  • Support delivery, installation, startup, and field service coordination as required.
  • Lead project closeout activities, including final documentation, customer turnover packages, open-item resolution, and lessons learned reviews.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Two to five years of project management or project execution experience in manufacturing, construction, power generation, metal fabrication, or a related environment.
  • Working knowledge of project scheduling, technical drawings, specifications, change management, risk management, budgeting, and document control.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Experience with ERP systems, AutoCAD viewers, Smartsheet, CxAlloy, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of secondary power generation systems, generator enclosures, data centers, inspections, and factory witness testing preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to routinely walk production floors and manufacturing areas.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout facilities during project reviews and inspections.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites, vendors, or project locations as required.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE when working in manufacturing or job-style environments.
  • Ability to support project requirements outside of normal business hours when necessary.
