Job DetailsJob Location: VISALIA, CA 93291Salary Range: $18.50 - $20.00 HourlyTITLE: SHIPPING & RECEIVING LOADER/CHECKER REPORTS TO: MOS/SHIPPING SUPERVISOR DEPARTMENT: SHIPPING AND RECEIVING GRADE: FLSA Status: Non-Exempt _X_ Exempt _ _ COST CENTER: SUMMARY To help direct activities involved in the shipment and receiving of materials; operating forklift to move pipe and materials to and from the production areas and to load and unload trucks. Perform functions of data entry and retrieval on computer system, including pulling and posting orders, checking inventory levels and building trucks. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Operate forklift equipment in order to load correct product for safe delivery to the customer. Ability to organize and plan loads; establish daily priorities for shipping and receiving. Instruct drivers on yard safety and safe loading/un Perform some clerical type duties such as: photograph outgoing shipments, prepares loaders check list, signs receipts and freight bills, prepares receiving reports and insures shipments conform to shipping orders. Operates and is responsible for miscellaneous office and materials handling equipment such as computer, calculator, camera, and two wheel truck. Establish and maintain good working relations with employees. Has a thorough knowledge of all operations and equipment as well as the various types and sizes of plastic pipe products. Completes daily loading tickets for Shipping and Receiving departments. Teaches, advocates, and uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times. Maintains good housekeeping program at all times. Fills out miscellaneous reports as necessary and conducts periodic inventory checks as required. Maintains efficient use of warehouse and storage facilities. QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. D., 1-2 years college or equivalent experience. 3-5 years in related field. Must be qualified on subordinate jobs, material and equipment. COMPUTER SKILLS Possess intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Internet/Intranet and AS400 experience preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as adding, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to confirm by sight quality level of raw materials and products produced to determine acceptance and or denial of each. Lift 26-50 pounds and carry it up to 30 feet. Walking through, under and around equipment with a clearance of 30”. Activate and use telephone, computer, and calculator. Ability to feel objects, such as textures, size and shape and to determine temperature by touching of skin, primarily by that of finger tips. Ability to grasp office utensils and use them in accordance with a safe working manner so as not to injure oneself or fellow employees.
