Job Description

Trillium Behavioral Health is a Joint Commission–accredited acute inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Warren, Michigan, and dedicated to serving Central Michigan’s adult population. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring the hospital is clean for its patients, staff, and visitors. Housekeeping also adheres to their departmental policies, as well as Trillium Behavioral's policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years of housekeeping experience, preferably in a hospital or inpatient facility.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties listed below describe the general nature and level of work performed by the Housekeeper. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required for this position.

  • Perform all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Facilities Department and Housekeeping function.
  • Perform routine cleaning of patient rooms, patient care units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, and stairways in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.
  • Wash windows, walls, floors, beds, and furniture upon patient discharge. Apply clean linen on disinfected patient beds.
  • Report any furniture, fixtures, building, or equipment repairs required to the facilities department.
  • Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Utilize the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
  • Use and maintain equipment properly.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Assist visitors with directions when requested.
  • Always introduce self to patients, families, and visitors.
  • Report safety hazards as appropriate.
  • Transport trash and hazardous waste to the appropriate disposal area.
  • Replenish supplies.
  • Follow all infection control practices, including handwashing techniques, standard precautions, and isolation precautions.
  • Maintain set quality standards when performing job duties.
  • Work independently with normal supervision.
  • Observe safety and security precautions at all times.
  • Adhere to the dress code; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Complete annual education requirements.
  • Maintain regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled, completing work within the designated time.
  • Wear identification while on duty and use the computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Complete in-services and return in a timely fashion.
  • Attend annual reviews and department in-services as scheduled.
  • Attend staff meetings and return all monthly staff meeting minutes.
  • Represent the organization positively and professionally.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement and quality improvement (QI) activities.
  • Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
