Job Title: CAD Designer/Draftsman/Technician

Location: Warwick, NY

Position: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (overtime eligible)

Reports To: Director of Design

Pay Range: $28 - $33 per hour based on demonstrable abilities

The person selected for this position will join a dynamic team of dock designers and become an integral part of the organization, with experienced designers available to train, coach, and mentor.

Initial Responsibilities:

• Prepare drawing packages for new projects during the proposal process.

• Generate Approval Layouts and required Submittal Drawings prior to fabrication.

• Move into providing full Shop Order drawing packages and Material Take-Off lists for new projects under contract.

• Develop custom design concepts to meet specific customer requirements and site conditions.

• Create the installation instruction package for each project and send copies to the proper RSM or Dealer prior to shipping.

• Work with the Drafting Manager and Project Managers to make project design changes as needed.

• Assist Shop Foremen with questions during the project fabrication process.

• Maintain drawing quality and accuracy while keeping projects on schedule, including keeping enough released work in front of the plant to stay productive.

• Maintain proper record keeping and folder/file structure.

Successful Applicant for Position should have:

• Minimum 3 years' experience using Autodesk AutoCAD 2020 or later versions.

• Ability to draw 2D plan views, elevations, and isometric details (3D not required, but helpful).

• An ability to utilize Paper space in preparing detailed overall layouts with enlarged areas for detail.

• Ability to read contract drawings and technical specifications and identify conflicts before they reach the shop floor.

• Ability to work at a manufacturing pace, where speed and accuracy are both critical to each project.

• Ability to manage several active projects at once without losing detail on any of them.

• Ability to work well with others in a team environment, including direct communication with Project Managers, Sales, and Shop Foremen.

• Be motivated to learn about our product from design to manufacturing to installation, and to advance in their responsibilities and duties.

Floating dock or marine experience is preferred but not required. We will teach the dock side to a strong drafter — drafting discipline is what we are screening for.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically located in an air-conditioned/heated office attached to the plant, with occasional outside work and exposure to the elements. Fast-paced manufacturing environment requires frequent multitasking. Primarily seated design work with limited lifting.
