Role Overview

This position supports a specialized legal practice focused on representing homeowners involved in disputes with residential contractors, builders, and developers. The work centers on defective construction claims, contract disputes, project delays, mechanic’s liens, payment issues, warranty matters, and other construction‑related litigation.

The ideal candidate is a motivated attorney who enjoys advocacy, takes ownership of cases, and is eager to develop strong trial skills. Prior construction law experience is helpful but not required.



Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct client consultations and develop litigation strategies

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Argue motions in court

  • Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations

  • Collaborate with construction experts and consultants

  • Prepare cases for trial, arbitration, and evidentiary hearings

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school

  • Active license to practice law in Virginia (Maryland and/or D.C. admission is a plus)

  • Ability to manage cases independently

  • Experience with depositions, hearings, and motion practice

  • Excellent client communication and organizational skills

  • Background in construction, commercial, or real estate litigation is preferred but not required
