Why This Role Matters

The Porter independently cleans and maintains restrooms, offices, break rooms, locker rooms, kitchenettes/pantries, stairwells, corridors, elevators, and other work areas. Duties include sweeping and mopping floors, removing trash and recycling, dusting furniture and fixtures, polishing metalwork, replenishing restroom supplies, and responding to service needs.

Service is provided to the East and West Wings on a 24/7 basis. Work schedules may shift based on events and tours occurring within the space. This Porter position is considered Essential Personnel and will be expected to perform duties as required by the contract.

What You Will Do

  • Clean and maintain offices, corridors, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, elevators, break rooms, libraries, closets, kitchenettes, stairways, locker rooms, storage rooms, and other work areas.
  • Sweep and mop floors and vacuum rugs, carpets, and furniture.
  • Dust furniture, equipment, and woodwork; polish brass and other metal fixtures.
  • Empty wastebaskets and transport trash and recycling to designated disposal areas.
  • Replenish restroom supplies as needed.
  • Spot clean carpets and maintain assigned cleaning areas.
  • Place wet floor signs and umbrella bags as needed to maintain safe work areas.
  • Maintain restroom, trash, and recycling carts.
  • Inform supervisors of problems, concerns, and safety issues.
  • Respond to phone calls from designated government points of contact.
  • Respond to emergency service calls within the assigned building and other buildings associated with the contract, as needed.
  • Follow all safety standards and guidelines for the proper use of cleaning equipment.
  • Maintain quality work and appropriate conduct in line with Didlake policies.
  • Complete and maintain all required Didlake training.

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED, or
  • Minimum of 6 months previous custodial or janitorial experience.
