Akira Technologies is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Development (OUSD-R&D) on advanced defense technology and mission initiatives.
The ideal candidate has 7+ years of data engineering experience and a strong background in C4ISR/CS4ISR, navigation data, onboard computing, and sensor systems. This role will design and manage data collection, processing, synchronization, and simulation capabilities supporting navigation systems across aircraft, ground vehicles, and other devices.
This is a hybrid role requiring up to three (3) days a week in Washington, DC and travel of up to 25% including Hawaii and Colorado, among others. This supports a government client and thus, active Top Secret clearance is needed.
Responsibilities
- Design and build data collection architectures using onboard computing resources within the navigation sensor stack.
- Collect, manage, process, and output navigation data to and from C4ISR sensor systems.
- Develop and maintain data collection and processing environments across on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Post-process navigation data to create simulated navigation results for testing and mission applications.
- Develop data synchronization capabilities to produce time-stamped, real-time navigation inputs for aircraft, ground vehicles, and other devices.
- Work closely with the Solutions Architect and engineering teams to integrate sensor, computing, and data-processing capabilities.
- Ensure data pipelines and solutions meet applicable technical, security, and mission requirements.
- Support system integration, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and deployment.
- Travel approximately 25%, including Hawaii and Colorado.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant data engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Active Top Secret (TS) clearance.
- Experience collecting, managing, processing, and outputting navigation data from C4ISR sensor systems.
- Experience with onboard computing and sensor-stack data collection.
- Experience building data-processing environments in on-premises and cloud-based environments.
- Experience with real-time data processing, synchronization, and time-stamped data.
Salary Range: Â $125,000 to $140,000
