YMCA Anthony Bowen Wellness Coach

Position: Wellness Coach          Salary: $18.40 per hour   

About the Job

The Wellness Coach supports members in reaching their fitness and wellness goals by providing guidance on exercise equipment, basic workout programs, and available wellness services. This position focuses on creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for members at all fitness levels.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the proper and safe use of fitness equipment.
• Provide members with basic workout guidance and assistance with fitness machines.
• Explain the benefits of regular exercise and encourage participation in wellness programs and services.
• Orient and motivate members to participate in fitness evaluations, personal training, group exercise classes, and wellness activities.
• Identify potentially dangerous situations and respond proactively to maintain a safe fitness environment.
• Provide information about fitness schedules, programs, and facility services.
• Support members throughout their health and wellness journey.
• Work collaboratively with staff and assist in other areas as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or a related field preferred.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
• Outgoing and personable, with the ability to communicate effectively with members.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Commitment to professionalism, respect, and a positive member experience.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to bend, sit, stand, and lift or carry at least 35 pounds.
