Primary Location: United States (US) - Iowa  - Waterloo   

 

As a Pipefitting Maintenance employeewith John Deere Waterloo Works, you will:

 

Install, inspect, maintain, and repair all factory pipe systems, such as water, gas, oil, and sewer in a production environment focused on safety, quality, and teamwork. Including but not limited to city, softened, R.O. and waste, back flows, gasoline, natural gas, diesel, oil, sewer, washroom, and toilet facilities, air compressors and air dryers. 

 

Types of Machines, Tools and Equipment Used or Operated:

Pipe-fitter’s, steam-fitter’s, plumber’s tools, hand and power pipe cutters, bending and threading machines, drain cleaning equipment, ladders, backflow testing equipment, all lifts, fork trucks, testing equipment for pneumatic and electrical controls and small hand tools.

 

Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following:

  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair factory pipe systems (hydraulic, water, gas, diesel, oil, sewer), control boxes, and related components in a production environment.
  • Install sprinkling systems and dry box valves and recharge fire extinguishers.
  • Operate and maintain sewage disposal system.
  • Ensure adherence to building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
  • Assist and support other team members and work with minimal supervision.
  • Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.
  • Work shifts (choice of shift based on seniority).

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have at least one of the following:
    • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
    • National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
    • At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience
  • Journeyperson’s card in Pipefitting Maintenance or at least 2 years of industrial pipefitting experience (or equivalent Military experience and training).
  • Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Ability and willingness to work potential overtime (including weekends).

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 3+ years experience installing and repairing HVAC systems, including temperature and pressure controls.
  • 3+ years reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and isometric diagrams for accurate layout and assembly.
  • 3+ years experience in cutting, threading, bending, and welding pipes using tools such as saws, torches, and threading machines.
