We are looking for a Registered Nurse to work in our Progressive Care Unit.  

Status: Full Time, Nights

Schedule: 6pm-6:30am

Summary/Objective

Utilizes the nursing process to provide care to patients of all age groups (infancy through geriatrics), and with all types & degrees of severity of illness or injury.  Practices in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act, and hospital & department policies, procedures & standards.  Participates in performance improvement efforts.  Maintains a clean, well organized department in a constant state of readiness with adequate supplies, equipment checks & housekeeping tasks.  Maintains competence through required in-services & other continuing education.  Requires on call, weekend & holiday rotation and the flexibility to work all shifts when needed.

  1. Administers IV’s, medications and treatments.

  2. Responds appropriately to emergencies.

  3. Evaluates patient response to interventions & acts accordingly.

  4. Maintains the department in a constant state of readiness.

  5. Communicates effectively with peers, health team members, patients, visitors & others.

  6. Communicates patient information as required for continuum of care.

  7. Transcribes physician orders.

  8. Usage of the computer system.

  9. Implements charges.

  10. Maintains confidentiality.

  11. Demonstrates good radio technique.

  12. Familiarity with SOP’s.

  13. Issues appropriate orders.

  14. Records report on the written log.

  15. Provides a positive clinical experience for EMT’s.

  16. Collects forensic specimens.

  17. Filing mandated reports.

  18. Knowledge of laws/regulations as they pertain to emergency nursing.

  19. Resolves problems and supports the unit team.

  20. Adapts to change and maintains a positive working attitude with others.

  21. Awareness of proper infection control.

  22. Teaches patients and/or significant others & shares knowledge with EMT’s or students.

  23. Interprets data & identifies patient requirements relative to age specific needs.

  24. Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Must have current hospital experience (within 5 years), or be a new nursing graduate (within 2 years).

  2. Must be able to think clearly during emergencies & be able to function well in extremely stressful situations.  

  3. Prefer at least 1 year of experience in hospital clinical nursing.

Licenses/certifications

  1. State of Illinois RN license that’s active and in good standing.

  2. CPR certification upon hire.

  3. ACLS within 90 days of hire.

  4. PALS within 90 days of hire.

The hospital facility is comprised of clinical and diagnostic services which are dedicated to providing high quality health care services to the community. These services include but are not limited to an Emergency Room, full service OR suites, an inpatient care unit, therapy services, advanced medical imaging, Home Health, and Hospice Care. The hospital operates rural health clinics in Watseka, IL, Gilman, IL, Milford, IL, Saint Anne, IL and Kentland, IN. The hospital also operates a skilled nursing facility, Iroquois Resident Home, which is attached to the hospital property.
