Job DetailsJob Location: Community Bridges Administration - Watsonville, CA 95076Position Type: RegularSalary Range: $30.11 - $31.90 HourlyJob Shift: 37.5 hrs/wkCommunity Bridges envisions a thriving community where every person has the opportunity to unleash their full potential. Our family of ten programs delivers essential services, provides equitable access to resources, and advocates for health and dignity across every stage of life.    POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, perform a variety of responsible and technical accounting functions in the area of payroll; performs associated bookkeeping, journal entry, report preparation, and computer processing duties; performs related work as required.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Payroll Processing: Preparing a bimonthly payroll, which includes verifying information submitted and balancing computer-generated reports and checks. Maintaining employee payroll records, reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing required tax, workers' compensation, 401K retirement, and related reports and records. Ensures that all payroll procedures are consistent with Agency personnel policies and current union contracts. Prepares payment vouchers for tax sheltered annuities, child care, workers compensation and garnishment accounts; keeps related manual ledger. Preparing payroll and benefits journal entries and reconciling entries as required. Conferring with staff regarding existing and proposed payroll software and procedures. Participating in the cross-training or basic training of accounting staff on payroll duties. Payroll Accounting and Reporting:  Inputs data to and retrieves data from an accounting system and Excel spreadsheet program; utilizes the computer, following established procedures, to create and maintain files and prepare periodic and special reports. Maintaining manual and computerized bookkeeping systems, records, logs, and files. Provides special reports as required by the CEO or other administrative staff. Reconciling errors and questionable records as directed by the Chief Finance Officer, Auditor, or Accounting Manager. Professional Conduct: Maintains confidentiality and treats staff with dignity and respect at all times. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other agency staff members Communicates effectively and respectfully with people from different racial, ethnic and cultural groups and from different backgrounds and lifestyles  Performs other duties as assigned.   Job descriptions are intended to be illustrative only; they are not designed to be restrictive or to define each and every assigned duty and responsibility. Typical hours of work will be Monday-Friday, between 9am and 5pm.  Regular onsite attendance is required of this position.  QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge: Of bookkeeping, journal entry and reconciliation, and related accounting office procedures and practices, with particular reference to payroll; and Of general office practices, including filing, report preparation, and the use of standard office equipment.   Skill: In preparing, researching, and maintaining a variety of records, reports, and forms related to the accounts payable function; In reconciling data and solving fiscal problems; In making accurate arithmetic calculations; In rapidly learning the specific policies and procedures of the agency; In using sound independent judgment, prioritizing work, and meeting critical deadlines; In communicating effectively with other agency staff and with representatives of funding organizations, banks, insurance companies, and vendors; In filing accurately; In using a variety of standard office equipment, including a personal computer to input, generate, and retrieve data; and In typing at a speed of 35 wpm.   OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  Must have some experience with bookkeeping software systems.
