THE ROLE:  Engineering Project Assistant

 

LOCATION:              Waukesha, WI

REPORTS TO:         Sr. Director, Engineering

POSITION TYPE:     Full-time, Non-Exempt

 

OUR OPPORTUNITY:

Provides administrative, organizational, and operational support to the engineering team while also assisting with the day-to-day needs of the department. This position helps keep engineering activities on schedule, ensures scheduling data is accurate, coordinates information between departments. Provides general office coverage including back-up receptionist responsibilities on a daily basis.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate engineering projects, priorities, deliverables, and documentation to support customer commitments and business objectives.
  • Maintain engineering standards, templates, forms, and controlled documentation to ensure consistency across all engineering teams.
  • Administer and coordinate document control processes, including SOPs, engineering specifications, Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve data accuracy, and increase engineering efficiency.
  • Assist with the implementation and adoption of departmental standards, procedures, and best practices across the engineering organization.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities among Engineering, Sales, Project Management, Operations, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure timely execution of project requirements.
  • Support engineering pricing activities, documentation updates, reporting, and related business system transactions.
  • Lead special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned, providing strong communication, organization, and follow-through to achieve departmental objectives.

 

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in a technical, administrative or other related field.
  • Two years’ experience in an administrative or project support role in engineering, manufacturing, construction, or technical office environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Teams.
  • Proficient working with numbers, pricing, spreadsheets, and data.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional telephone and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with engineers and other team members.
  • Must speak, understand, read, and write English proficiently.
  • Physical Requirements include: Twisting, turning, grasping, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pulling, extended periods of standing, ability to lift 25 pounds. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment (copier/printer). Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
