Facility Manager – Banking Operations

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Facility Manager with strong mechanical expertise and retail operations background to oversee comprehensive facilities management for our banking client. This role requires a hands-on professional who can manage complex building systems, coordinate soft services, and understand the unique operational demands of retail banking environments.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Operations & Maintenance Oversee all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across banking facilities including HVAC, refrigeration, lighting, fire safety, and security systems. Conduct regular inspections and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Manage vendor relationships and service contracts for specialized equipment maintenance.

Soft Services Management Direct and oversee all soft services including janitorial and cleaning services, waste management and recycling programs, landscaping and grounds maintenance, pest control, reception and front-of-house services, and window cleaning. Ensure service providers maintain high standards that reflect the professional image expected in banking environments. Conduct regular quality inspections and manage service level agreements to ensure consistent delivery across all locations.

Retail Banking Environment Management Maintain branch facilities to support customer-facing operations with minimal disruption to banking services. Coordinate maintenance and cleaning activities outside business hours or during low-traffic periods. Ensure facilities meet brand standards and create welcoming, professional customer environments. Support branch openings, closures, and renovations.

Compliance & Safety Ensure all facilities comply with banking industry regulations, building codes, ADA requirements, and health and safety standards. Maintain current knowledge of fire safety, emergency systems, and security protocols. Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions. Ensure soft services vendors adhere to all safety and compliance requirements.

Budget & Resource Management Develop and manage comprehensive facilities budgets including hard services maintenance, soft services contracts, utilities, and capital improvement projects. Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service quality. Track and report on key performance metrics and facility expenditures across all service areas.

Vendor & Contract Management Manage relationships with multiple service providers across both hard and soft services. Negotiate contracts, monitor performance against KPIs, and conduct regular vendor reviews. Ensure all contractors maintain proper insurance, certifications, and comply with banking security requirements.

Emergency Response & Business Continuity Serve as primary point of contact for facility emergencies. Coordinate rapid response to mechanical failures, environmental issues, security concerns, or service disruptions. Develop and maintain business continuity plans to minimize operational disruptions.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years facilities management experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • 3+ years experience managing both hard and soft services
  • 3+ years experience in retail or customer-facing environments (retail banking experience highly preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems
  • Proven experience managing janitorial, landscaping, and facility support service contracts
  • Technical certifications in relevant trades (HVAC, electrical, etc.) preferred
  • Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Experience managing multiple locations and vendor relationships
  • Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Understanding of retail operations and customer experience priorities
  • Strong vendor management and contract negotiation skills
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with branch staff, executives, and vendors
  • Quality control mindset with attention to detail in service delivery
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends for emergencies
  • Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and MS Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or similar professional certification
  • Experience with security systems and access control in financial institutions
  • Knowledge of energy management and sustainability initiatives

Estimated compensation for this position:

110,000.00 – 130,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
