Electrical Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Preventative Maintenance & Inspection: Routinely inspects electrical systems, circuits, motors, and panels to identify hazards or defects before they cause failures.
• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnoses malfunctions using testing devices (voltmeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes) and repairs/replaces faulty wiring, breakers, or components.
• Installation & Upgrades: Installs new electrical systems, conduits, and equipment, following blueprints, schematics, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• System Testing: Tests the performance of electrical systems and components to ensure they operate efficiently.
• Documentation: Maintains accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections. 

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience (often 3-5+ years) as a maintenance electrician in industrial or commercial environments.
• Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of electrical systems (120v-480v three-phase), PLC troubleshooting, and motor controls.
• Safety Knowledge: Thorough understanding of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, NFPA 70E).
• Tools: Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and electrical diagnostic equipment. 

Common Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in electrical maintenance or completion of an apprenticeship is often preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
