Job Overview                                                                                                              

This position plays a key role in connecting Planning, Warehouse, Inventory Control, Purchasing, and Production. The Kitting Area Coordinator will oversee daily kitting activities, monitor material availability, identify shortages before they impact production, and maintain an organized and efficient kitting area.

 

Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                              

  • Coordinate daily kitting activities based on the production schedule and work-order priorities.
  • Review upcoming work orders and material requirements.
  • Ensure materials are accurately picked, verified, identified, and staged for production.
  • Track kits through Not Started, In Process, Complete, Short, and On Hold status.
  • Identify material shortages before they impact scheduled production.
  • Communicate shortages and material issues to Planning, Purchasing, Inventory Control, and Production.
  • Coordinate with Material Handlers to ensure kits are completed on time.
  • Verify part numbers, quantities, units of measure, lot information, and other required material information.
  • Investigate differences between physical inventory and ERP inventory.
  • Ensure material issues, transfers, returns, and other inventory transactions are completed accurately.
  • Maintain an organized, clearly labeled, and efficient kitting/staging area.
  • Support cycle counting and inventory-accuracy activities.
  • Maintain FIFO, lot-control, traceability, and other material-control requirements when applicable.
  • Respond to production schedule and priority changes.
  • Escalate shortages or material issues that could cause production delays.
  • Support continuous improvement, 5S, barcode scanning, and material-flow improvements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities                                                                                                              

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple work orders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read work orders, bills of material, pick lists, and production schedules.
  • Basic computer and ERP system skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multiple departments

 

Education and Experience                                                                                                              

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, warehouse, inventory, materials, or production operations.

Preferred Qualifications                                                                                                              

  • 2+ years of manufacturing, warehouse, inventory, or material-handling experience.
  • Previous kitting, inventory-control, or production-control experience.
  • Experience with Acumatica or another ERP system.
  • Barcode/scanner experience.
  • Cycle-counting and inventory-control experience.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and 5S.

Work conditions are consistent with manufacturing plant environment. The Kitting Area Coordinator requires a moderate degree of physical fitness, as the role requires him/her to lift up to 35 lbs. This role also requires some standing and walking throughout the production area.
