Job Summary As an Electrical Engineer / Designer, you will play a key role in designing power distribution systems and preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to both the technical and financial success of projects from design through construction. Key Responsibilities - Design electrical power distribution systems, including service entrances, feeders, panels, lighting, and related systems, in accordance with NEC and local codes.
- Develop one-line diagrams, load calculations, and electrical layouts using AutoCAD, Revit, and related design tools.
- Perform lighting design, voltage drop calculations, and coordination studies.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates throughout all design phases using Accubid or equivalent estimating software.
- Review and analyze construction documents to develop accurate material take-offs and labor estimates.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal teams to align electrical designs with project requirements and budgets.
- Respond to RFIs and provide technical support to construction teams during project execution.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, construction standards, and sustainable design practices.
- Manage multiple design and estimating assignments simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and deadlines.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Candidates without a bachelor’s degree may also be considered if they hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license or Designer of Engineering Systems license, which is preferred in lieu of a degree.
- 3–7 years of experience in electrical design and estimating.
- Experience working in design-build, electrical contracting, or general contractor environments.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Accubid or comparable estimating software.
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable construction standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple estimates and electrical designs concurrently.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- LEED certification and BIM experience are a plus.
