Summary:

Under the direction of a Radiologist, Facility Manager or Supervisor performs radiographic procedures (general & EKGs) according to protocols established for various age groups of patients, at a technical level requiring supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of general technical radiographic procedures that will require judgement and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated area or procedures as required.

EssentialDutiesandResponsibilities:(overall) include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Verifies that the prescription matches the procedure that is going to be performed, and records all reasons for the exam including the all signs and symptoms.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Positions patient on examining table and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Moves x-ray and EKG equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Processes radiologic digital images and examines for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Verify that the patient鈥檚 exam corresponds to the ordered exam in PACS. Make changes in billing codes/exam titles as needed.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Make sure to present any prior studies along with current studies to radiologist for diagnostic assessment.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Stock/Order supplies, check machine for any problems, perform equipment QC as needed and any other duties that may be assigned to you daily.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 All other duties as assigned.



聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 High school diploma or equivalent.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Current and valid Florida State License (CRT)

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Basic Life Support BLS through the American Heart Association (CPR)

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Graduate of a 2-year radiologic technology program from an accredited school

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) registry

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knowledge & skill performing X-ray and EKG procedures and protocols.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
