Custom Truck & Auto, a proud member of the Custom family of companies, is seeking a skilled, dependable, and safety-focused Truck (Diesel) Technician to join our growing team. This position plays a vital role in keeping our fleet and customer vehicles operating safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, enjoys solving mechanical challenges, and is committed to delivering exceptional service.

As a Truck (Diesel) Technician, you will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on medium and heavy-duty trucks and equipment. Success in this role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, teamwork, leadership, and a commitment to safety.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, transmission services, and preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Inspect vehicles and identify mechanical deficiencies, wear, or safety concerns.
  • Diagnose and repair a variety of vehicle systems based on certification level and experience, including:
    • Brake systems
    • Suspension and steering components
    • Electrical systems and batteries
    • OBD-II diagnostic systems
    • Engine and drivetrain components
    • Exhaust systems
    • Tires and wheel assemblies
    • Interior and exterior vehicle components
  • Install and maintain batteries, tires, shock absorbers, exhaust systems, and other mechanical components.
  • Safely road test vehicles to verify repairs and diagnose concerns.
  • Raise trucks, buses, and heavy equipment using hydraulic lifts, jacks, and hoists.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance and repair records.
  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of fluids and materials in accordance with MSDS guidelines and all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by properly securing tools and equipment.
  • Communicate equipment and facility maintenance concerns to management as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with rapidly changing vehicle technology.
  • Consistently provide high-quality work and exceptional customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience working in a vehicle maintenance, repair, or service shop.
  • Ability to safely lift, handle, and work with heavy equipment and vehicle components.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

Preferred

  • 1 to 3 years of experience servicing medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
  • Diesel engine repair experience.
  • RV repair experience.
  • ASE certifications or industry-recognized certifications.
  • CDL license or the ability to obtain one.
