Shift: 7am-3pm

Pay: 21-25/hr.

The CNC Setup/Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machining equipment to produce quality parts according to established specifications, drawings, and production requirements. This position requires the ability to independently perform machine setups, select and install tooling, make program/offset adjustments, inspect finished parts, and identify and correct machining issues.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to work independently while maintaining production and quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC machines according to work instructions, blueprints, setup sheets, and production requirements.
  • Load and unload raw material and finished components safely and efficiently.
  • Install and adjust cutting tools, fixtures, collets, and other work-holding devices.
  • Set machine offsets, tool lengths, work coordinates, speeds, feeds, and other necessary parameters.
  • Load, verify, and make appropriate adjustments to CNC programs as required.
  • Make minor program edits and adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and in-process inspections using appropriate measuring equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, GD&T, setup sheets, and other technical documents.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Identify tooling wear, machine issues, dimensional problems, and other production concerns and make appropriate corrections.
  • Monitor machines during operation and make adjustments as necessary to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Troubleshoot machining problems and work with Maintenance, Tool & Die, Engineering, Quality, and Supervisors when additional assistance is required.
  • Maintain proper machine setup and ensure tooling and fixtures are properly stored and maintained.
  • Complete required production, quality, inspection, and maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Follow quality procedures and notify supervision of nonconforming material or production concerns.
  • Assist with training less-experienced CNC Operators when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Previous CNC machining and setup experience required.

Ability to read and understand CNC programs and make basic program adjustments.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately.

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to perform machine setups with limited supervision.

Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

Basic mathematical skills, including decimals, fractions, and measurements.

Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.

Reliable attendance and ability to work scheduled hours.
