JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN – MANUFACTURING PLANT (Day Shift Position – 8 days on / 6 days off)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our manufacturing facility in White City, Oregon.

Qualified candidates must hold a current State of Oregon Journeyman Electrician license as either a Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician or General Journeyman Electrician. General Journeyman Electricians must have Journeyman-level experience working in a manufacturing plant or industrial manufacturing environment.

This position is responsible for maintaining process integrity, troubleshooting electrical and plant control systems, calibrating instrumentation, and helping keep the entire manufacturing operation running safely and efficiently.

The Journeyman Electrician works closely with Production and Maintenance and must have a strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, instrumentation, PLCs, plant control systems, and ladder logic.

Safety is a critical responsibility of this position. The Journeyman Electrician is expected to maintain safe work practices at all times and has the authority to stop production when, in their professional judgment, an unsafe condition exists.

Required Oregon Electrical License

Candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Hold a current State of Oregon Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician license; OR
  • Hold a current State of Oregon General Journeyman Electrician license with Journeyman-level manufacturing plant/industrial manufacturing experience.

Candidates who do not meet one of these State of Oregon licensing requirements will not meet the minimum qualifications for this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical and plant control systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and control-related problems throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Maintain plant process integrity from an electrical and systems-control standpoint.
  • Perform routine calibration, testing, and maintenance of plant instrumentation.
  • Work with PLCs, ladder logic, industrial controls, and related process-control systems.
  • Communicate programming and logic changes to Production operators and supervisors.
  • Maintain plant electrical and control documentation, including red-lining prints and drawings.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining plant procedures and safety policies.
  • Provide direct electrical and controls support to the Production team.
  • Use logical troubleshooting and process-of-elimination techniques to diagnose equipment and system failures.
  • Evaluate the potential impact of electrical wiring, electronic equipment, control, and software changes on plant production.
  • Support plant projects based on workload and operational priorities.
  • Participate in safety committees and other plant safety activities as needed.
  • Wear all required PPE and follow established safety procedures at all times.
  • Demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize assignments independently.
  • Maintain safe work practices at all times and stop work or production when an unsafe condition warrants immediate action.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current State of Oregon Journeyman Manufacturing Plant Electrician license OR State of Oregon General Journeyman Electrician license with Journeyman-level manufacturing plant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with instrumentation and process controls in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting industrial electrical and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and ladder logic.
  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, calibration, and process-control systems.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions based on established practices, plant rules, safety requirements, technical manuals, experience, and professional judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent vocational/technical training.
  • Training with an emphasis on instrumentation, industrial electrical systems, automation, and process controls.
  • Extensive electrical experience within a manufacturing plant.
  • Experience supporting Production in a continuous or high-volume manufacturing environment.

Schedule & Work Requirements

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to work an assigned rotating work schedule.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Flexibility to adjust work schedules in response to Production needs.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to independently prioritize work based on safety, production needs, and equipment criticality.
  • Occasional travel and training may be required for continued skills development.

Physical & Mental Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform work throughout an active manufacturing facility, including:

  • Walking throughout the plant between equipment and work locations.
  • Climbing ladders to heights greater than 10 feet.
  • Standing and sitting for varying periods.
  • Squatting, bending, lifting, reaching, and performing other physical movements associated with industrial electrical work.
  • Reading and interpreting technical information, electrical drawings, manuals, and procedures.
  • Performing detailed electrical, instrumentation, and control-system troubleshooting.
  • Working safely around industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment while wearing required PPE.

Problem-Solving Responsibilities

The Journeyman Electrician regularly makes decisions regarding the repair, modification, and troubleshooting of electrical wiring, electronic equipment, instrumentation, plant controls, and related systems.

Decisions must consider the potential impact on employee safety, equipment reliability, product quality, and the production capabilities of the plant.

Successful candidates will possess strong natural troubleshooting abilities and be able to identify problems through logical analysis, experience, technical knowledge, and process-of-elimination techniques.
