How you’ll contribute 

A Recreational Therapist who excels in this role:

Will perform structured evaluations and develop a treatment plan in conjunction with primary care counselors using therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities
 

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct assessment and establish recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.

  • Pre-certify patient care.

  • Conduct ongoing reviews to authorize continued care.

  • Evaluate each patient’s progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions.

  • Formulate a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment date from the interdisciplinary assessment.

  • Update treatment plan weekly or more often as needed.

  • Coordinate therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization.

  • Assist with development of discharge plan in timely and documented standards.

  • Provide patients and patients’ families with information regarding leisure lifestyles and creates an awareness of recreational resources in their community.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy or related fields. Additional requirements include:

  • Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Therapeutic recreation Specialist Certification. 

  • One (1) year experience in Recreational Therapy in a hospital setting is preferred.

  • Experience in treatment planning and implementation highly desirable.
