Position: Youth Peer Support Specialist

Company/Location: Kentucky River Community Care/Letcher County Sapling Center

Employment type: Regular Full-Time

Credentials needed: must be at least eighteen (18) years of age but no older than thirty-five (35); receiving or have received at least one (1) child serving agency or a state funded service that is related to youth's emotional, social, behavioral, or substance use disability.

Special skills/knowledge required: high school diploma or equivalent, KFLA training, demonstrate leadership and advocacy in the field of behavioral health.

Primary Functions:

  • Use relevant personal stories to teach through experience.
  • Serve as a role model for clients.
  • Encourage client voice and choice during development and implementation of treatment planning.
  • Support clients while receiving mental health services. Empower clients to be self-advocates.
  • Help clients enhance relationships with community partners.

Shift/Days & Work Hours:  Monday-Thursday 10 am to 8 pm
