PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

To perform simple work tasks to satisfy customer requirements. To fabricate insulation and/or work other assigned contracts. To fulfill mission statement.

                                 


SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Primary:  Production Manager/Supervisor   Secondary:  Team Leader/Contracts and Director, Business Services


SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None. 



QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: No minimum requirements set. Prefer GED or high school diploma.

                                                


ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with individuals who have disabilities and or barriers to employment and participate in the achievement of their goals. Demonstrate a positive, role model. Display commitment and involvement towards Goodwill's mission.

JOB COMPETENCIES: Ability to perform tasks to satisfy customer requirements. Maintains personal/ individual production records. Successfully assemble, package, and label miscellaneous contracts. Ability to seal or cut simple insulation blankets. Meets minimum production/quality standard in department. Reads and understands work sheets. Ability to use hand tools such as wrenches, box knife, steam iron, solder tool and scissors. Understands ISO requirements. Able to do simple math. Must be able to read a ruler or tape measure.     



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. To perform work tasks to satisfy customer requirements
  2. To assemble, package, count, and label 
  3. Follow work instructions 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Inform supervisor when materials are running low.
  2. Secure equipment and/or materials as instructed.
  3. Report to the supervisor immediately upon completion of assigned work.
  4. Complete each step, in order, as instructed, not taking short cuts or altering procedures without specific approval from supervisor.
  5. Keep area and tools neat, organized, and clean.
  6. Adhere to all safety policies and report violations.
  7. Adhere to all ethical standards and confidentiality of records.
  8. Support mission statement and activities needed by other departments.
  9. Support the accessibility of services and facilities relating to architectural, attitudinal, environmental, financial, communication, transportation, employment, and other barriers to persons with disabilities and barriers to employment.
  10. Take trash to the compactor.
  11. Clean work areas during last 10 minutes of work day.
  12. Complete daily production forms.
  13. Comply with ISO procedures and seek continued improvement.
  14. Locate templates and material and return them to their proper location.
  15. Support and value team.
  16. Other duties as assigned. 

 

STANDARDS FOR MEASURING PERFORMANCE/QUALITY STANDARDS:

  1. Attendance and punctuality.
  2. Quality and quantity of work performed on simple and complex insulation blankets and other contracts.
  3. The ability to uphold the general policies of Goodwill Industries of Kansas, Inc.
  4. Attitude and overall effectiveness of working relations with employees, peers, stakeholders and service providers.
  5. Able to keep production records.

PHYSICAL STRENGTH:

  • Lift -- push/pull while standing - up to 30 pounds on a daily basis. 
  • Carry -- push/pull while moving - up to 30 pounds on a daily basis.
