This Role Matters More Than You Think

This is not a typical safety role. This is a front-line position where your presence directly shapes whether someone feels secure, supported, and seen during some of the most vulnerable moments of their life.

As a Safety and Security Representative, you are not just maintaining order—you are helping stabilize environments, de-escalate crises, and model what calm, respectful human interaction looks like under pressure. Your actions can change the trajectory of someone’s day, and sometimes much more than that.


Position Summary

Safety and Security Representatives support direct care teams by supervising patients and maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. You will work with youth, engaging them in problem-solving, reinforcing positive behaviors, and assisting with daily needs.

This role requires sound judgment, emotional awareness, and the ability to act quickly and effectively in dynamic situations. When leadership is not present, you may step into a lead capacity based on operational needs.


What You Bring

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution

  • Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance

  • At least one year of related experience or training

  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, typing/keyboarding)

Preferred Experience

  • Background in behavioral health or a related field

  • Experience using trauma-informed and person-centered approaches

  • Experience supporting individuals in behavioral health crisis


What You Will Do

  • Supervise unit activity and monitor patient movement

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment

  • Support individualized treatment plans in coordination with clinical teams

  • Engage patients in positive interactions and structured activities

  • Provide crisis intervention and initiate emergency response when needed

  • Accurately complete documentation, reports, and required records

  • Observe and document patient behavior and interactions

  • Transport patients to appointments and visits as needed

  • Assist with daily living tasks such as meals and laundry

  • Participate in team meetings and required training

  • Use internal systems to manage scheduling, documentation, and updates


Physical Requirements

This role is active and physically engaging. You should be prepared to:

  • Stand, walk, and remain alert for extended periods

  • Use hands and arms for handling, reaching, and assisting

  • Bend, kneel, crouch, or climb as needed

  • Lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally

  • Maintain visual awareness (close, distance, peripheral, depth perception)
