The Villages Charter School (VCS) opened in August 2000 and is one of the most successful public charter schools in Florida. In fact, VCS has been a "High Performing Charter School", earned a "School of Excellence" and has received 23 straight "A" ratings from the Florida Department of Education! This year, VCS earned the “Cognia School and Systems of Distinction” from the international accreditation group Cognia.

The Villages Charter School spans two campuses.  Our Buffalo Ridge campus has three elementary attendance centers and one middle school building. Our newest campus, “Middleton”, opened in August 2023 with a K-8 center and a state-of-the-art high school complex.

VCS currently serves over 4100 students, kindergarten through 12th grades with an overall capacity of 6500 (500 students per grade level) across both campuses.

DESCRIPTION:

The Villages Charter School is accepting applications for a RTI Math Interventionist.  This position provides math interventions through the VCS  MTSS/RTI program. The Math Interventionist will support students in a continuous improvement process in academic areas of math through a push-in model. The Math  Interventionist will collaborate with classroom teachers developing and implementing appropriate academic intervention strategies. This position will be located on the Middleton campus.

 SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

To provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with the mission and goals of The Villages Charter School.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The expectations include the following and other duties as assigned:

  • The RTI Math Interventionist  is responsible for all facets of providing math interventions to students,  including analyzing and tracking student data, preparing documentation, and collaborating with teachers, attending parent meetings for all T2 & T3 students. 

  • The RTI Interventionist communicates and collaborates with the math team..

  •  Implement the Response to Intervention model for increasing student achievement.

  •  Collect and analyze data for RTI students; assist teachers to drive instruction
  •  Establish and maintain open communication and use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
  • Participate as a member of school staffing teams as appropriate. .
  •  Develops assistance plans for at-risk students.  
  •  Participate in the periodic re-evaluation of RTI students served in the education programs.
  •  Participate in Parent/Teacher meetings. Demonstrates competence in communicating with

    parents, staff and students (establishing an environment aligned with the campus and district

    goals that conveys high expectations)

  •  Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Principal



QUALIFICATIONS:

● Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution; with evidence of curriculum development experience.

● Possess a math certification (6-12) issued by the State of Florida in the appropriate area and

at the appropriate instructional level.  In addition to math certification, an ESE Certification is highly valued. 

● A minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience at the appropriate level/ area.

● Computer knowledge and skills in the use of current technology as an instructional resource, and fluent in the use of the internet as a resource tool for research


 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  

205 days – Exempt. Benefits shall be paid consistent with the VCS policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment are those established by the Board.
