Join Our Team as a Casual Physical Therapist at UPMC Williamsport!

UPMC Williamsport is seeking a dedicated Casual/PRN Physical Therapist to support therapy services at Williamsport Hospital. This role offers a premium set rate of pay and a daylight hours schedule. One weekend per month is required, with additional opportunities for weekday and weekend shifts. Additionally, there are opportunities to work at other campuses in the North Central PA region, including UPMC Muncy, UPMC Lock Haven, and UPMC Wellsboro.

Responsibilities:

  • Review patient charts, perform initial assessments, develop treatment plans, and administer physical therapy treatments and modalities.
  • Monitor progress and document treatments performed with patients, including discharge planning and patient education, to increase overall functioning, reduce discomfort, and improve flexibility, range of motion, and strength.
  • Communicate the patient's status to the referring physician and other healthcare team members.
  • Serve as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students, residents, and fellows in a specialty area of physical therapy.
  • Maintain professional license/registration through continuing education and professional development opportunities to satisfy requirements for licensure/registration renewal.
  • Perform physical therapy assessments, reassessments, and treatments, and supervise physical therapist assistants in treating pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients referred by a physician to the clinic.
  • Develop and modify plans of care based on patient response and status changes, working with PTAs to adjust patient programs as needed.
  • Rotate through selected treatment areas as necessary to facilitate organizational needs.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and in-service education programs.
  • Maintain written documentation for all physical therapy services rendered, including initial assessments, follow-up visits, and discharge summaries, consistent with department standards. Co-sign physical therapist assistant documentation biweekly.
  • Complete necessary charge and statistical information to accurately reflect services rendered.
  • Provide verbal and/or written home instructions to patients and/or family members when applicable.
  • Schedule patients to achieve and maintain a level of productivity that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility by the organization while ensuring quality patient care.


Graduate of an accredited program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
An active license in the practicing state is required.

CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Physical Therapist (PT)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
