Registered Veterinary Technician, Surgery & Anesthesia | $26–$35/hr

Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center (ECVMC) is hiring an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery & Anesthesia team in Wilmington, NC. This is an excellent opportunity for an RVT who enjoys advanced surgery, anesthesia, and complex patient care while working alongside board-certified surgeons and an anesthesiologist.

Compensation

  • $26–$35/hour based on experience and licensure
  • $1,500 sign-on bonus available to RVT candidates

Schedule

  • Full-time
  • Five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts per week

Responsibilities

  • Support surgical admissions, patient preparation, anesthesia, monitoring, and recovery
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs throughout surgical procedures
  • Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement and assist with fluid therapy and medication administration
  • Maintain accurate medical records, daily charges, and surgical documentation
  • Maintain aseptic technique and ensure proper use of surgical equipment
  • Support emergency transfers and hospitalized patients
  • Coordinate patient discharges and review at-home care instructions with clients
  • Communicate effectively with clients and the veterinary medical team
  • Help ensure smooth patient flow from admission through discharge

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) status required
  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience; surgery or anesthesia experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia induction, monitoring, drug calculations, pharmacology, and fluid therapy
  • Proficiency with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, phlebotomy, diagnostic imaging, laboratory procedures, restraint, and patient monitoring
  • Advanced anesthesia experience strongly preferred for consideration for the higher sign-on bonus
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to remain calm and respond quickly in emergency situations
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to exceptional patient care and client service
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds safely
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
