Position Overview

Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Teacher to provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with varying developmental and educational needs.

The ideal candidate will have strong classroom and behavior management skills, experience working with students in small-group or one-on-one settings, and the ability to adapt instruction to meet each student's unique needs. American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group and individualized instruction tailored to each student's needs.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement differentiated educational programs based on students' developmental levels.

  • Collect, document, and analyze student data to monitor progress and guide instructional decisions.

  • Maintain accurate attendance records, progress reports, and other required documentation.

  • Integrate the principles of Conductive Education into daily instruction, making appropriate modifications to meet individual student needs.

  • Work collaboratively with professional staff to establish student goals across physical, cognitive, and social domains.

  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans and strategies as needed.

  • Implement proactive behavior management strategies, including positive redirection, data tracking, functional behavior assessments, and behavior plan development.

  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities.

  • Provide basic caregiving support while following universal health and safety precautions.

  • Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student growth and independence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is a plus.

  • Florida Professional Teaching Certificate (PreK3rd) is a plus.

  • Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Endorsement required/preferred based on assignment requirements.

  • American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency preferred.

  • Experience teaching in small-group settings of approximately 67 students and/or one-on-one environments.

  • Strong classroom management, behavior management, and assessment skills.

  • Ability to adapt instruction for students with varying developmental levels and learning needs.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated collaboration, interpersonal, human relations, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
