Purpose and Description


Responsible for administration, management and direction of team specializing in employee benefits insurance.

 

Essential Job Functions


  1. Maintain, update and follow operations procedures.
  1. Contribute to client retention and growth.
  1. Hire, train, manage and develop staff as assigned.
  1. Responsible for the administration of assigned employee benefits functions. Periodic performance evaluation of all department personnel, provide guidance and create an atmosphere encouraging employee growth and positive development.
  1. Develop and periodically review job descriptions and departmental standards.
  1. Attend and hold regular meetings with staff to gather input and assure achievement of established goals.
  1. Review agency systems to ensure full utilization.
  1. Review workflow with the goal of finding opportunities to improve the way the work is being done.
  1. Maintain effective ongoing communication with leadership team to insure smooth and efficient information flow. Create relationships conducive to prompt, equitable resolution of problem situations.
  1. Undertake projects and additional duties that may be assigned by management.
  1. Provide all necessary management reports to keep senior management up to date on achievement of objectives and operations.
  1. Responsible for the work product quality or direct reports.



Minimum Requirements


The following are required to enable the employee to perform the essential functions of the job.


  1. Skills/knowledge – Above average written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively motivate and lead staff. Sound interpersonal skills are essential. Must be able to conduct training on technical matters.
  2. Experience/education – Eight+ years of insurance company experience or equivalent required. Three of these years should be the management or supervision of an employee benefits team. College degree or comparable work experience required. Professional designation and achievement of related insurance industry or management courses desired.
