Circle of Care is an independent nonprofit Care Management Organization (CMO) serving youth up to age 21 and their families throughout Passaic County. We support youth with complex behavioral health, mental health, substance use, intellectual, and developmental needs.

Position Summary

This is not a Circle of Care employment opportunity.  We are partnering with AmeriCorps serve as a service site position. This opportunity may be used to fulfill required service hours for AmeriCorps members.

Circle of Care for Families and Children of Passaic County seeks an AmeriCorps Community Health Navigation Member to support community outreach, youth wellness initiatives, resource navigation, and family engagement activities throughout Passaic County. The member will increase access to health, behavioral health, educational, and social service resources for youth and families while helping to strengthen organizational capacity and expand community engagement efforts.

The member will serve as part of the AmeriCorps Healthy Communities Corps and support Youth Mental Health Corps priorities by promoting mental wellness, increasing awareness of available resources, supporting prevention and early intervention efforts, and connecting youth and families to community-based services. The member will engage in meaningful direct service activities that address community needs while developing professional skills in community engagement, program development, and health navigation.


Essential Service Activities

The AmeriCorps Member will:

  • Conduct community outreach and engagement activities to connect youth and families with available supports and resources.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of community events, workshops, and wellness activities.
  • Provide resource navigation and referrals related to mental health, healthcare, education, housing, food assistance, recreation, and other community supports.
  • Create and distribute educational and outreach materials that increase awareness of services available to youth and families.
  • Support the development and facilitation of wellness workshops, presentations, and prevention-focused programming.
  • Promote positive youth development and healthy lifestyle practices through community-based activities.
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, coordination, and community service projects.
  • Help collect and track outreach and program data to measure community impact and program outcomes.
  • Support community health and youth mental health initiatives through education, engagement, and connection to services.
  • Collaborate with staff and community partners to expand the reach and effectiveness of programs serving children, youth, and families.

Youth Mental Health Corps Responsibilities

As part of New Jersey's Youth Mental Health Corps initiative, the member will help:

  • Increase awareness of youth mental health resources.
  • Facilitate or support wellness-focused workshops and activities.
  • Conduct outreach to youth and families regarding available behavioral health supports.
  • Connect youth and families with appropriate community resources and referrals.
  • Support prevention, early intervention, and wellness promotion efforts throughout the community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • High school diploma, GED, or currently working toward completion of a GED.
  • U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Permanent Resident.
  • Accepted in an AmeriCorps program
  • Ability to complete AmeriCorps program requirements, including required trainings, service activities, and reporting requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Interest in community service, public health, youth development, mental health, or social services.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community partners.

Service Outcomes

The AmeriCorps Member will contribute toward:

  • Increased community awareness of available resources and supports.
  • Improved access to services for youth and families.
