Job Description

Passero Associates is seeking an experienced Civil Designer to join our team and report to our St. Augustine, FL office. In this role, you will support the planning, design, and construction of site development, municipal, and aviation infrastructure projects throughout the Southeast. You will develop civil design plans and technical documentation and contribute to project delivery from initial concept through construction closeout.

The ideal candidate will bring 6-10 years of progressive civil design experience and strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D. This is a technical design-focused career opportunity for an experienced designer who can independently produce high-quality construction documents, coordinate across disciplines, and help mentor less-experienced technical staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare conceptual site layouts and support project planning and feasibility activities.
  • Develop and independently produce civil construction plans using Autodesk Civil 3D, including alignments, profiles, corridors, surfaces, grading, pipe networks, and plan/profile sheets.
  • Perform grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, pavement, and site geometry design for airport, municipal, and site development projects.
  • Prepare permitting packages, quantity takeoffs, preliminary and detailed cost estimates, technical specifications, and supporting engineering documentation.
  • Support preparation of contract documents, bid packages, addenda, and construction-phase design revisions.
  • Apply applicable client standards, local criteria, FDOT requirements, municipal code and other regulatory requirements as appropriate to assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, surveyors, subconsultants, clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
  • Perform quality-control checks of drawings and design deliverables and assist with maintaining CAD/Civil 3D standards.
  • Assist with construction administration, including review of submittals, responses to RFIs, field observations, and preparation of record drawings, as assigned.
  • Provide technical guidance and Civil 3D support to junior designers and engineering staff.

 Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressive civil design experience, preferably in an AEC consulting environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD, with demonstrated experience producing complete civil construction plan sets.
  • Strong working knowledge of grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, pavement, earthwork, and site development design.
  • Experience with airport/airfield, municipal, transportation, or public infrastructure projects preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple design assignments, meet deadlines, and communicate design issues proactively.
  • Strong verbal, written, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred where applicable; PE licensure is a plus but is not required for this technical design-focused role.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; occasional project-site travel is required.
  • Ability to report to the St. Augustine, FL office.
