Our client is a well-established company in the fertilizer and agricultural inputs industry, who is looking for a qualified candidate to join their firm.
Marketing Strategy & Planning
- Analyze market dynamics, customer needs, competitor activities, and industry trends to develop the overall marketing direction and annual, quarterly, and monthly plans in alignment with business objectives.
- Translate strategic priorities into clear action plans, responsibilities, timelines, KPIs, reporting mechanisms, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Brand Management
- Lead the positioning, brand identity, communication direction, and consistent execution of the company’s product brands across all customer and market touchpoints.
- Ensure brand messages and visual identity are consistently delivered across channels while supporting broader commercial objectives.
Product Marketing
- Develop product portfolios, product lines, sales materials, and marketing content tailored to specific product groups and target markets.
- Translate technical product features into clear customer benefits and relevant market-facing messages.
- Work closely with relevant teams to ensure product communication effectively supports sales and customer needs.
Trade & Channel Marketing
- Develop and implement trade marketing programs for distributors, dealers, retail points, and target markets to increase brand visibility and accelerate product sell-out.
- Strengthen product presence across distribution channels and continuously improve the effectiveness of channel marketing activities.
Sales Enablement
- Partner closely with regional and field sales teams by providing sales tools, marketing materials, POSM, market intelligence, and relevant sales support programs.
- Actively support Sales in driving sales volume, distribution, channel development, and customer engagement rather than operating Marketing as a standalone function.
Market Activities & Events
- Plan, manage, and oversee customer conferences, seminars, activation programs, promotional events, trade exhibitions, and other market-facing activities.
- Ensure each activity is aligned with commercial priorities, target audiences, and measurable business outcomes.
Promotion Management
- Plan, coordinate, control, and evaluate promotional programs in collaboration with Sales.
- Ensure promotional activities are implemented effectively, remain within approved budgets, and deliver measurable commercial impact.
Communications & Digital Marketing
- Manage both online and offline communications as part of the overall marketing mix.
- Use digital channels as supporting tools within an integrated marketing strategy rather than treating digital as the sole focus of the function.
Market Research & Insights
- Build and maintain a structured market intelligence system covering customers, distributors and dealers, competitors, market policies, and relevant industry developments.
- Translate market insights into actionable recommendations for Sales and senior management.
Budget & Marketing Effectiveness
- Develop, allocate, and monitor the marketing budget.
- Evaluate marketing effectiveness based on commercial indicators such as sales performance, distribution, customer development, and brand impact.
- Ensure marketing investments are appropriately controlled and deliver measurable returns.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Select, evaluate, and manage agencies, suppliers, printers, event organizers, and other external marketing partners.
- Maintain appropriate service standards, cost control, and delivery quality across external partnerships.
Team Leadership & Development
- Set objectives, assign responsibilities, monitor progress and quality, coach team members, and strengthen the overall capabilities of the Marketing team.
- Build a performance-oriented environment with clear accountability across the function.
Marketing Operations & Systems
- Standardize marketing planning, reporting, program management, budget control, data management, and performance measurement processes.
- Continuously improve operating systems to strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of the Marketing function.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
- Approximately 8 years or more of Marketing experience is preferred, including hands-on experience managing a team or function. Strong candidates with slightly fewer years of experience may also be considered based on demonstrated capability.
- Previous experience as a Marketing Manager, Head of Marketing, Senior Marketing Manager, or an equivalent role with practical management responsibility.
- Experience in the fertilizer or agricultural sector is highly preferred. Candidates from related industries such as crop protection, seeds, agricultural supplies, plant nutrition, or other sectors with a similar distributor/dealer network may also be considered.
- Strong background in Brand Marketing, including brand positioning, brand identity, communication development, and execution across market touchpoints.
- Ability to translate technical product characteristics into clear benefits and messages that are relevant to customers and end users.
- Solid Trade/Channel Marketing knowledge with practical experience working through distributor, dealer, or point-of-sale networks.
- Strong commercial mindset with a clear understanding that Marketing should contribute directly to sales volume, distribution, channel development, and customer growth.
- Proven experience working closely with Sales Managers, Area Sales Managers, and field sales teams, with the ability to effectively bridge Marketing and Sales.
- Willingness to spend time in the market meeting sales teams, distributors, dealers, and customers rather than operating solely from the office.
- Strong capability in budget planning, data interpretation, program evaluation, and marketing effectiveness measurement.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including objective setting, coaching, performance management, quality control, and team development.
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities with the ability to work directly with senior management and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Clear, logical communication skills with the ability to present proposals, plans, and business results effectively to senior leaders.
- Proactive, practical, decisive, and results-oriented, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage demanding timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience in the fertilizer or broader agricultural industry would be a strong advantage.
- An established network within the relevant industry is preferred.
- Previous experience in new product launches or product-line development is advantageous.
- Experience building, restructuring, or strengthening a Marketing organization is highly valued.
- English or other foreign-language proficiency would be an advantage.
