Position Overview

The Mowing Crew Member is a full-time, production role in the Mowing department. The Crew Member spends most of the time in the field working with a crew under the direction of a Crew Leader.

Day-to-Day Stuff

  • Primary duties include mowing, trimming, edging turf areas and blowing off hard surfaces/structures
  • Adhere to quality and safety standards
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn how to operate equipment and tools needed to perform daily tasks. This is an introduction to crew-specific equipment.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor and crew mates
  • Accurately record hours worked
  • Winter snow/ice removal
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Characteristics Needed to Succeed

  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to be added to the company’s auto insurance policy
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Mowing experience preferred
  • Ability to acquire pesticide applicator’s commercial certification within 45 days of hire
  • Demonstrated ability to process and follow instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a team
  • Ability to learn how to use tools and equipment meeting operational safety standards
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral instructions
  • Regular and prompt attendance required
  • Ability to work extended or alternate hours (nights and weekends) due to clients’ needs
  • Must be available for extended hours during snow events, mandatory overtime

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day with the ability to be mobile throughout required work areas. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 lbs. The employee will be required to generate up to 75 lbs of push/pull force when maneuvering various equipment/supplies. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

 

 

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to work outside in all types of weather conditions; conditions include occasional extreme heat exposure due to natural climate. The noise level in the work environment can be loud; vibration levels are moderate.
