Quality Control Technician Job Description

Cooper’s Houston is seeking an experienced Quality Control Technician for a manufacturing opportunity in Houston, Texas. This position is ideal for a quality-focused professional with experience in manufacturing, metals, copper, wire, extrusion, steel, aluminum, automotive, or industrial production.

The Quality Control Technician will be responsible for inspecting raw materials, monitoring in-process production, testing finished products, maintaining quality documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish, possess a valid passport, and be available and willing to travel for company-provided training.

Pay for this position is $26–$32 per hour, depending on qualifications, education, technical knowledge, and relevant manufacturing experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality specifications and customer requirements.
  • Perform physical, laboratory, and quality-control tests according to established procedures.
  • Identify and investigate product defects, quality deviations, and customer complaints.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare quality certificates, inspection reports, and product documentation.
  • Maintain accurate product and process traceability records.
  • Enter inspection and testing results into ERP and quality-management systems.
  • Verify the proper use and calibration of measuring and testing equipment.
  • Support process-control activities, quality reporting, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Participate in new product validations, manufacturing trials, and process testing.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment.

Requirements

Required Qualifications Education

An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas is preferred:

  • Chemistry
  • Metallurgy
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Manufacturing Technology
  • Quality Engineering
  • Materials Science
  • A related technical or manufacturing field

Equivalent combinations of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.

Quality Control Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of Quality Control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with industrial manufacturing and production quality processes.
  • Experience in copper, metal, wire, extrusion, steel, aluminum, automotive, or similar manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inspection, testing, documentation, and quality-control procedures.

Technical Knowledge

Candidates should have knowledge or experience with:

  • Quality inspection methods
  • Physical and laboratory testing
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Product and process traceability
  • ISO 9001
  • ISO 17025 is a plus
  • ERP systems such as SAP or similar platforms
  • Microsoft Office
  • Measuring and testing equipment
  • Manufacturing quality systems

Bilingual English & Spanish Required

Candidates must be fluent or highly proficient in both English and Spanish.

The ability to communicate effectively in both languages is important for working with production, quality, engineering, and other manufacturing personnel.


English: Advanced proficiency required
Spanish: Advanced/intermediate-to-advanced proficiency required


Passport & Travel Requirement

A valid passport is required for this position.

The selected candidate must be available and willing to travel for training, including potential travel outside of the Houston area and/or internationally, depending on the training program.

Candidates who cannot travel for required training should not apply.

The ideal Quality Control Technician is a detail-oriented manufacturing professional who enjoys working on the production floor and takes pride in ensuring products consistently meet customer, industry, and internal quality standards.

You should be comfortable working with production teams, inspecting materials and finished products, analyzing quality data, documenting results, and helping identify opportunities for process improvement.

We are especially interested in candidates with experience in copper, metals, wire, extrusion, steel, aluminum, automotive, or industrial manufacturing who are bilingual in English and Spanish and are willing to travel for training.

Compensation

$26.00–$32.00 per hour
