Position Overview
EEI is seeking Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our team in Kansas, with openings in our Pittsburg, McPherson, and Liberal, KS offices as well as the Kansas City metro area. This role will serve as a licensed surveyor of record on boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking projects, review and certify survey deliverables, and provide technical direction to field crews and survey technicians.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as Professional Land Surveyor of record, reviewing and sealing plats of survey, legal descriptions, easements, and other survey documents
Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and site investigation surveys for civil, land development, and municipal projects
Direct and mentor field crews and survey technicians, providing technical guidance on data collection, equipment use, and quality control
Coordinate with civil engineers and project managers on land development, subdivision, roadway, and utility projects requiring survey support
Prepare and review property descriptions, plats, and record documents for filing with county and municipal authorities
Provide construction staking and layout support for active construction projects
Maintain compliance with Kansas State Board of Technical Professions requirements and firm quality standards
Support business development and client relationships for survey services across our Kansas and Kansas City-area markets
Qualifications
Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Kansas required; additional licensure in Missouri, Oklahoma, or Texas a plus; open to land surveyors on track to acquiring their PLS license.
Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, or civil engineering preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered
5+ years of land surveying experience, including boundary, topographic, and construction staking work
Experience reviewing and sealing survey deliverables, plats, and legal descriptions
Proficiency with survey equipment (robotic total stations, GPS/GNSS) and survey software (Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, or similar)
Working knowledge of Kansas platting, subdivision, and survey regulations; familiarity with Missouri and Oklahoma requirements a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with comfort working directly with clients, developers, and municipal staff
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once
